I have served in the Nursery/Preschool capacity as class room leader and coordinator here at First Baptist Church of Navarre, for the last seven years. I have a strong desire to teach the children that God loves them and wants them to know Him. I have loved and taken care of children in my own family from a very young age and know this is my gift from the Lord!
I first felt the call of God at age five through a beautiful hymn called, “In the Garden”, sung by three teenage girls at our First Baptist Church in Selma, Alabama. After hearing this song, I knew God wanted me to walk with Him and talk with Him. As a young Christian I loved Sunday school, Baptist Training Union, Sunbeams and Girls Auxiliary.
My husband Bob and I got married in 1960 at that same Baptist church where I learned to walk and talk with my savior. In the first six years we had four children and I lost my way of talking and walking with Him during this time. But God is faithful and was waiting for me to find my way back because without Him it was a very dry desert with no garden in sight. God called me back through one of my twin boys. Ron, who was nine years old, wanted to catch the big blue church bus that came through our neighborhood every Sunday morning. So, we visited that church and the very next week a family from Immanuel Baptist came to welcome us. Soon after, I rededicated my life to Christ and have never wanted to leave His garden again!
I have lots favorites in the Holy Scriptures but my go to verses are:
Proverbs 3: 5 & 6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
